Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 September 2026
LoneBuddy is a supplementary personal-safety tool for individuals. It is not an emergency service, does not contact emergency services, and does not replace 999/911, professional emergency response, employer lone-worker systems, workplace risk assessments, employer procedures or your own judgement.
1. About LoneBuddy
LoneBuddy™ provides personal-safety features including timed check-ins, Buddy alerts, SOS tools, low-battery safety alerts and optional Premium features. It is intended for personal use, including by individuals who may happen to be working alone. It is not sold as an employer monitoring, workforce-management or compliance service.
2. Eligibility and device requirements
You are responsible for using a compatible device and maintaining the permissions, battery, cellular service, SMS capability, GPS/location services and device settings required for the features you choose to use.
3. Alerts are not guaranteed
SMS and location functions depend on factors outside LoneBuddy's control, including device state, operating-system restrictions, signal, network availability, recipient details, carrier delivery, GPS accuracy and battery level. An alert may be delayed, fail or contain unavailable or inaccurate location information.
4. Buddies
You are responsible for selecting suitable Buddy contacts, keeping their details accurate and making sure they understand what receiving a LoneBuddy alert means. A Buddy is not an emergency service and has no contractual duty to respond.
5. Free and Premium
The Free plan currently includes 1 Buddy contact, a 30-minute check-in timer, SOS, missed check-in alerts, low-battery safety alerts and Safety logs. Premium currently adds up to 10 Buddies, custom check-ins up to 24 hours, additional safety profiles, 15-minute location updates during active alerts, Fake Call and other Premium tools.
6. Active alerts and subscription changes
A paywall or subscription status change must not interrupt an alert or safety session that is already active. If a Premium entitlement ends while an active safety event is running, that event continues to completion. Any Premium access restriction takes effect only after the active alert or safety session has ended.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Premium is currently advertised on this website at £3.99/month or £29.99/year. The Google Play purchase screen is authoritative for the price, currency and renewal terms that apply to a transaction. Billing, cancellation and refunds are handled through Google Play.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use LoneBuddy unlawfully, to harass or deceive others, to send knowingly false emergency-style alerts, or in a way that interferes with the app, website or other users.
9. Safety-critical decisions
Do not rely on LoneBuddy as your only means of obtaining help. Where there is immediate danger or a medical, fire, police or other emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service directly when you can.
10. Availability and changes
We may update, add, remove or modify features for security, reliability, legal, platform or product-development reasons. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability. We will not intentionally apply a paywall in a way that stops an already-active alert or safety session.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights. Subject to those protections, LoneBuddy is a supplementary safety tool and we are not responsible for losses caused by mobile networks, SMS carriers, GPS, device hardware, operating-system restrictions, incorrect contact details, loss of signal, battery failure, third-party services or other matters outside our reasonable control.
For losses that can lawfully be limited, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with LoneBuddy is limited to the greater of £100 or the total amount you paid for LoneBuddy Premium in the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim. This cap does not apply where the law does not permit liability to be limited.
12. Consumer rights and fairness
These terms do not reduce any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer law. If any term is found unenforceable or unfair, the remaining terms continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law applicable to the consumer contract, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. Nothing in these terms is intended to deprive a consumer of mandatory local rights.
